Rob Adlard finishes his B Eng degree with the Open University this summer, having studied Material Properties and Design. Rob created the projects, initially with the rover, and then later the rocket, re-branding the group the OU Planetary Robotics to encompass the different projects.
“I really hope that some OU students can keep these projects going, and develop them further once my time with the OU has ended, it’s been such a great way to gain knowledge and experiences with exciting practical projects, working together as a multi-disciplinary team.”
Rob began experimenting with rockets about 6 years ago, and gained experience with organisations such as Starchaser Industries and others, eventually designing and building his won rockets, most recently completing work for UK Launch Services as part of the consortium bringing space launch to the UK at the UK Spaceport in Sutherland. Rob also gained experience working in instrumentation at the OU’s incredible Centre for Electronic Imaging.
