A large proportion of our fundraising target is travel and accommodation costs for the team, so without your support we won’t be able to go to the competition and compete. Your donations will also go to sourcing parts and building the rocket systems; including its payload, flight computers and propulsion. The funds will be withdrawn by the Team Lead, Sarah, into a dedicated bank account set up for the OU Student Rocket Team. We plan to be fully transparent with where your donations go, updating the website with our expenditures so you can see how your support has helped the team achieve its goal.
Current budget plan
£4000 – Flights for 4 team members (~£815 per person as of January 2020) and accommodation for 8 nights in New Mexico
£250 – Vehicle hire for transporting rocket to launch site
£1500 – Shipping rocket to and from the US
£523 – 98 mm motor casing
£610 – Competition propellant
£300 – Materials for airframe
£425 – Flight electronics x2 (primary and redundancy), GPS system and payload materials
£500 – Expenses and testing (including a smaller test launch propellant)
£1905.86 – Competition entry for 4 team members and insurance ($1500 for insurance, $200 entry fee, $700 team entry and $50 per team member attending competition)
